Near the university campus in downtown Ann Arbor, there’s a church that posts its weekly sermon titles on its sign. This week’s title posed a question whose actual answer probably wasn’t the one unintentionally provided on the sign, no matter how accurate that answer was for the church’s members:

Newspaper shoot: City directory (9 April 2008)

The other day, Editor Terry asked me to get a few shots around town for this year’s city directory; one specific request he had was for a shot of the interior of the Common Grill, Chelsea’s fancy-pants restaurant. With its murals of local sights framed by the building’s original brick walls, it’s not difficult to come up with pleasant pictures of the Common Grill; the above was my favorite of the bunch.
Newspaper shoot: spring cleaning (6 April 2008)

The newspaper wanted a few shots of people cleaning up their yards, and my neighbor was unfortunate enough to be doing just that when I drove by. But she put up with it well, and I got a picture I like.
Since I started my photography business, my work has given me several opportunities to do a little public speaking. Those of you who know me need no further comment, but for those who don’t know me: public speaking is not one of my talents. If you haven’t been exposed to my marginal public speaking ability, you can get the next best thing to actual footage by reading this comic:

That comic comes from the outstanding Garfield Minus Garfield blog.
