Last night I was at Arctic Breakaway watching the Red Wings beat the Blue Jackets when my phone rang. These days, when I get a call from a number I don’t recognize, it’s often a business call; however, this particular call was something else entirely:
Me: “This is Burrill.”
Caller: “Hey, is Corrine there?”
Me: “Uh … I think you have the wrong number.”
Caller: “Oh — I wondered why a guy answered. Is this 4303?”
Me: “No, this is 4330.”
Caller: “Okay, sorry about that.”
Me: “No problem.”
Caller: “Hey, while I have you on the line … I’m supposed to rent a movie for us to watch tonight, and I don’t really know what good movies came out recently. Do you know any good movies we could watch?”
What did you recommend?
Since I watch more 25-year-old tv shows than I watch modern movies, I didn’t have any good suggestions for him. But if he’d asked me what retro tv shows I’d suggest, I would have been all over that one!
At least he knew you were a guy. It’s always embarrassing getting called “ma’am”.
