Chelsea football faced Lincoln.
The game was scheduled to be played at Lincoln, but due to a tragic accident at Lincoln’s stadium earlier in the week, the game was moved to Ann Arbor Pioneer.
There was a moment of silence during pregame.
So close, and yet…
…it was a frustrating evening for the Chelsea offense.
Lincoln scored two touchdowns in the first quarter, but the Chelsea defense came up with a resounding response: an interception…
…and an interception return for a touchdown…
…and then special teams chimed in with a fumble recovery on a kickoff return…
…and then the defense returned another interception for a touchdown.
Those two interception returns wiped out Lincoln’s two-touchdown lead, and the teams went into halftime tied at 14.
The Chelsea defense continued its strong play in the third quarter.
Unfortunately, the Chelsea offense continued to have a frustrating night, and Lincoln built a 28-14 lead in the fourth quarter.
Midway through the fourth quarter, the offense put together a strong drive.
The result of that drive was a Ty Nelson touchdown, and Lincoln’s lead was down to seven.
The Chelsea defense forced Lincoln to punt late in the fourth quarter, but the Bulldogs were flagged for running into the kicker, giving Lincoln a first down and the win.
The Bulldogs will be back in action against Tecumseh this Friday. The game will be in Chelsea at 7pm.
