Chelsea held its Christmas celebration a couple weeks ago. In contrast to those of the past few years, the 2014 events were not held in frigid temperatures and snowstorms — a welcome change for my fingers!
Friday’s fun kicked off with the tree lighting ceremony.
A choir from CHS led the crowd in a few Christmas songs…
…the fair queen threw the switch to light the tree…
…and then some guy with a lot of facial hair and a distinct fashion sense showed up to address the crowd.
After the tree lighting ceremony, the Common Chords bell choir played its annual show at the Chelsea Library.
They always draw a good crowd.
Over at the Farmer’s Supply, there were stories and songs for kids.
Saturday evening’s parade is always a popular event, and the relatively mild weather seemed to bring even more festivity-seekers to downtown Chelsea.
The fair queen, previously seen lighting the Christmas tree, rode in the parade in a car adorned with lights.
Chelsea’s Christmas parade has no shortage of vehicles adorned with lights.
Local vintage base ball fans may notice a familiar hat in this photo:
That’s one of the Merries walking in the parade. Huzzah!
If you know me, you won’t be surprised that I’ve included this photo:
(Go try the Wild Zebra.)
It wouldn’t be a Chelsea Christmas parade without this truck:
The city utility truck is always a fun sight, too.
Then that guy with the beard showed up again…
…and that was the end of the parade.
Merry Christmas!
