Chelsea Hockey vs Dexter: 25 February 2014

In the first round of the playoffs, Chelsea drew its old friend — “friend” — Dexter.

When you’re at a Chelsea hockey game, you should always be aware of what might be lurking over your shoulder. Look on the right side of this photo:

The game was tied 1-1 in the third, and everyone was getting a bit tense. Then Jacob Dobberstein got his stick on the puck in front of the net. Happiness ensued.

The best part of the above picture is the row of spectators behind the glass. Look at their expressions. They’re so much fun. Even better: on closer examination I realized the four spectators on the left side of the photo are players for Lumen Christi, the team that would be facing the winner of this game.

Now that you’ve enjoyed the reaction of the spectators, go ahead and enjoy the celebration on the ice.

Shortly after Dobberstein gave the Bulldogs the lead, Alec Daman extended that lead to two goals. More happiness ensued. Again, check out the spectators:

And now the celebration on the ice:

Late in the third, Dexter scored to cut Chelsea’s lead to one, and Dexter’s goalie donned his invisibility cloak:

Dexter kept the puck in Chelsea’s end, but Bulldog goalie Derek Shaedig made a save as time expired, and Chelsea advanced to the next round with a 3-2 victory.

Chelsea faced Dexter three times this year and won two of them…and all three games finished with a score of 3-2.
