This Week in Chelsea Sports Photography: 15 Feb – 21 Feb

Tuesday: Basketball
The Chelsea men lost to Pioneer, 38-59.

Is coach Robin Raymond giving in-game movie reviews?

Thursday: Hockey
Chelsea lost to Davison, 4-5.

Sadly, Steven O’Keefe gets no points for putting people in the net.

Friday: Basketball
On the strength of Michael Roberts’ career-high 33 points (including 100% free throw shooting!), the Chelsea men defeated Lincoln, 70-60.

It seems Conor Tait broke into spontaneous jumping jacks to stay in shape...

…But then he went back to scoring points.

Yes, the rumors are correct: with his hip-hop career in doubt, Joaquin Phoenix is now on the Chelsea basketball coaching staff.

Saturday: Hockey
On Senior Night, Chelsea defeated Lansing Catholic Central, 8-0.

Senior Randy Cox finished with two goals and five assists.  Yes, that means he was involved in seven of Chelsea’s eight goals.

Senior Riley Feeney scored the eighth and final goal to end the game.

Hat-Trick Brown earned his name once again, this time scoring four goals…

…And he was so happy, he just had to dance.

Because it was the final regular-season home game, the seven seniors gathered together in the locker room for a picture:

Clockwise from bottom left, starting with the captain: Riley Feeney, Ethan Johnson, Steven O’Keefe, Randy Cox, Brian Manitz, Joey Hume, Joel Boyce.

Because it was such a lopsided game, I took advantage of the relaxed locker room atmosphere to get a few pictures of the team between the first and second periods.  I’d been in the locker room before, but each time I see it, I’m always impressed; it has to be one of the nicest high school hockey locker rooms in the state.
