Photo of the Variable Time Period, vol. 169

Ethan is a wonderful young boy with autism, and he and his family will be the subjects of an upcoming article in the Dexter paper.  Editor Terry asked me to shoot a few pictures to go with the article, so I joined him for the interview and did exactly that.

A number of the pictures feature a tape measure, and there’s good reason for that: Ethan is very fond of numbers, and he enjoyed counting out the numbers on the tape measure during the interview.  His affinity for numbers in general (and the tape measure in particular) was the motivation behind the focus in the last shot.

And don’t you forget it

While I was in Idaho last week, special correspondent Andrew sent me a picture of some wonderfully sarcastic graffiti he spotted in Ypsilanti:

Sadly, it didn’t last long: someone painted over the message the very next day.

Check out this poster

The fine folks at the Chelsea District Library have been preparing their push for the Chelsea Reads Together 2009 events, and when they needed a poster to spread the word, they asked me to shoot a photo and design the poster.  I’ve found it’s good business to give the people what they want, so behold, the Chelsea Reads Together 2009 poster:

The table featured in the photograph is piled high with Michigan food products, including bread from Ann Arbor’s Zingerman’s Bakehouse and — of course — muffin and biscuit mixes from Chelsea’s Jiffy Mixes.

This Week in Chelsea Sports Photography: 25 Jan – 31 Jan

This installment of TWICSP is being filed from Idaho.  This is relevant for two reasons.  First: with mountain views like these, it’s no wonder Idaho’s potatoes are delicious (and famous).  And second: between the whole leaving town thing and my early Saturday morning departure, I had to rush a bit to pick out a few basketball shots before I left so I could put together this post after I arrived in the land of Because Our Knee-High Scrub Is So Real, We Believe Trees Are Merely A Myth Cleverly Constructed By Inscrutably Devious Midwestern Shade-Lovers.

So: here I am in the home of the golden-brown french fry plant (some disassembly required), and here’s your weekly dose — slightly smaller, but still ruthlessly addictive — of Chelsea sports photography.

Wednesday: Hockey
Chelsea defeated Huron, 8-1.

Not only did Andrew Brown score on this shot, but he also managed to put together a hat trick.  That’s why they call him Hat-Trick Brown.  (Well, they would if they had any sense.)

Friday: Basketball
The Chelsea women lost to Dexter, 31-44.

Portraits: Bill (20 January 2009)

Bill needed a few publicity photos, and while the natural first answer to the question “Who ya gonna call?” is, of course, “Ghostbusters,” he wisely went with his second answer.  The Ghostbusters might not have had him stand out in the cold for pictures, but they also would have been more interested in capturing mischievous spirits than in producing worthwhile photos, so I think it all worked out.

A site for sore eyes

Earlier this week I introduced the new BSP logo; to go with the new logo, I’m happy to introduce a new business website.  The previous site looked like this:

And the new website looks like this:
