Look! More icicles!

Look! More icicles!

A sunny Sunday in early February began to melt the icicles.

It’s winter’s exclamation point.
Though the icicles were melting, it was still cold enough outside to encourage local wildlife to seek the warmth of the house.

I named him Harold.
After Super Bowl Sunday’s enthusiastic snowfall, a stiff wind worked hard to sculpt the snow.

With snow on the ground and in the air, I headed downtown (very) late in the evening to get a few photos of Chelsea dressed up in its winter finery. The evening’s heavy snowfall made Chelsea seem even quieter than it normally is at that hour.

This winter took a while to arrive, but it finally showed up with a light snowfall early in January. As a fan of winter, I celebrated the occasion by heading outside to take a few photos.

The cats didn’t mind the arrival of winter.

In 2014 I took a few photos of some stuff. Let’s take a look at some of the photographic highlights!

Chelsea held its Christmas celebration a couple weeks ago. In contrast to those of the past few years, the 2014 events were not held in frigid temperatures and snowstorms — a welcome change for my fingers!
Friday’s fun kicked off with the tree lighting ceremony.

A choir from CHS led the crowd in a few Christmas songs…

…the fair queen threw the switch to light the tree…

…and then some guy with a lot of facial hair and a distinct fashion sense showed up to address the crowd.

After the tree lighting ceremony, the Common Chords bell choir played its annual show at the Chelsea Library.

They always draw a good crowd.

The day after our train ride to the Grand Canyon, we made the drive back up to the canyon to do a bit more exploring. When we arrived at the canyon, we headed east from the main visitor area and stopped at a few overlooks.
The Grand Canyon was still grand.

One more bit of proof that I really was there:

(The “State So Nice” shirt I’m wearing is available here.)
The views at the next overlook were even better.

Our final stop was at the Desert View Watchtower near the east entrance of the park.

That concluded our visit to the Grand Canyon.
If you haven’t yet been to the Grand Canyon…go. It’s worth the trip.
