For the first time since 2013, Sounds & Sights faced a weather forecast that was a bit less than optimistic. (No, I’m not exaggerating. Every Thursday night last summer was beautiful.) However, the cloudy skies and the chance of rain didn’t stop people from coming out to enjoy the fun of a summer Thursday night in Chelsea!
As usual, Kevin Kramis was hosting the comedy night on the library lawn.
He always does a good job of promoting the library’s programs and events.
Kevin is a nice guy, and we’re always happy to see him in Chelsea. Kevin is also a funny guy.
In addition to being nice and funny, Kevin is also expressive. I can never resist putting together a selection of the faces he makes while he’s being funny.
That last face came with a good punchline — I was laughing as I was shooting photos — but I’m going to let you all enjoy it out of context. (Sorry, Kevin. Like I said…I couldn’t resist.)
The comedy continued.
Cold Tone Harvest was playing on South Street.
I wasn’t the only one taking photos. Everyone say hi to Terry and his camera!
Cold Tone Harvest had several enthusiastic young fans dancing in the street.
These two provided one of my favorite photos of the week:
Mike Vial was in the alley.
This little one was happy to show off her face painting:
Annie & Rod Capps and Jason Dennie were on Middle Street.
See the gentleman on the right? The one on the mandolin? That’s Jason Dennie.
This is Annie:
And this is Rod:
Delbert Walling and Haley Smith were at the Sylvan:
My sister and her kids happened to be there when I stopped at the Sylvan to get photos:
The area by the clocktower now features sidewalk chalk.
Liquid Plasma was playing by the Glazier Building.
The Bluesmatics were at the clocktower gazebo.
Finally, down in the clocktower courtyard there was face painting. This is always a popular attraction.
You don’t even have to get your face painted. They’ll paint arms, too.
This little guy said he wanted his face painted, but once he got in the chair he wasn’t so sure about it.
He’s not crying — he’s just a little nervous about the brush! After a number of unsuccessful efforts to get him to look up while she painted his face, his mom and the face painter decided to leave it as just a big patch of blue on his forehead. Hilariously enough, he was VERY pleased with it.
And that was week two of Sounds & Sights 2015! Doesn’t that look like fun? That’s because it is! Come on out to downtown Chelsea from 6:30-8:30 any Thursday through the summer to enjoy the fun. See you there!
