Okay, back to Thunderwüde.
Sometimes things break at inconvenient times. Things like strings.
It wasn’t long before everything was back in working order.
The Bluesmatics were on South Street.
Dave Boutette was at the Alehouse.
He had company.
The Dorkestra was at the gazebo.
Annie & Rod Capps were on the library lawn.
Hullabaloo was on South Street. Hullabaloo was LOADS of fun!
The bass player was out dancing in the street and interacting with kids the whole time I was there.
The July 16 Sounds & Sights featured something a little bit different: the Monitors and the Merries, our wonderful local vintage base ball clubs, were by the clocktower with batting practice for the kids.
They also had games and other amusements.
Thursday night fun in Chelsea continued on another beautiful evening.
Shari Kane & David Steele were on the library lawn.
The Dorkestra was on South Street.

After a couple weeks of threatening clouds, Sounds & Sights welcomed the return of beautiful Thursday night weather.
Bill Bynum & Co. were on the library lawn.
Captain Ivory, always a S&S crowd favorite, was on South Street.
Detroit’s Navin Field — the site of legendary Tiger Stadium — is likely to be redeveloped sooner or later. While the plans include keeping the field (though there’s talk of installing artificial turf, a thoroughly awful idea), the redeveloped property will mean it won’t be as it is now: open for anyone and everyone to step on the same field and to run the same base paths every major league legend did for a century. With that in mind, the Monitors and the Merries traveled to Detroit on a gorgeous Sunday morning to play a fun pickup match before heading to Greenfield Village for the Monitors match in the afternoon.
Normally I would have spent all my time shooting photos, but this time I was able to play in the match! However, I did shoot a few photos when I wasn’t in the field or up to bat. Here’s what I got from an extraordinarily enjoyable morning in Detroit.
Gingersnap celebrated as she scored a run.
Is Caveman keeping his eye on the ball? You be the judge!
Stagecoach got on base and eventually advanced to third. Who was covering third base? None other than Bumblebee, his wife. They had a moment.
Then we got back to the match.
While Half Pint waited for her chance to advance to second…
…Pepperbox kept an eye on her from right field.
It was a wonderful morning.
After the match, that little one had THE BEST TIME running the bases.
For yet another week, Sounds & Sights faced an uncertain weather forecast. This compelled the library to move its comedy show inside again.
The change of venue didn’t stop the laughter.
Meanwhile, the rest of Sounds & Sights was outside. There was a very light rain early in the festivities, but it didn’t seem to bother anyone.
In the above photo, notice that it’s raining while the sun is out. Do you know what that brings?
The rainbow is leading directly to Smokehouse 52. Does that mean the pot at the end of the rainbow is filled with brisket?
The light rain stopped entirely not long after Sounds & Sights started, and the rest of the evening was dry and beautiful.
The North Creed Fiddlers were on South Street.
For the second consecutive week, the Thursday evening forecast was a bit less than ideal. However, that didn’t stop people from coming to downtown Chelsea to enjoy an evening in town!
The possibility of rain compelled the library to move its comedy show inside.
The rest of Sounds & Sights remained outside. Cash is King, a Johnny Cash tribute band, played on South Street.
As always, the kids were enjoying the music.
