Winter in Chelsea: 8 February 2015

A sunny Sunday in early February began to melt the icicles.

It’s winter’s exclamation point.

Though the icicles were melting, it was still cold enough outside to encourage local wildlife to seek the warmth of the house.

Winter in Chelsea: 1 February 2015

Super Bowl Sunday brought the first serious snowstorm of the season. It started snowing early in the day and didn’t stop until late in the evening, resulting in a multitude of school closures throughout the county.

The mule wasn’t too concerned about it.

Christmas in Chelsea: 5/6 December 2014

Chelsea held its Christmas celebration a couple weeks ago. In contrast to those of the past few years, the 2014 events were not held in frigid temperatures and snowstorms — a welcome change for my fingers!

Friday’s fun kicked off with the tree lighting ceremony.

A choir from CHS led the crowd in a few Christmas songs…

…the fair queen threw the switch to light the tree…

…and then some guy with a lot of facial hair and a distinct fashion sense showed up to address the crowd.

After the tree lighting ceremony, the Common Chords bell choir played its annual show at the Chelsea Library.

They always draw a good crowd.
